What is WiFi ?

Wi-fi is not an acronym for Wireless-Fidelity as many people mistakenly assume. Wifi is a term used to market 802.11 WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) Technology.

Wi-fi Alliance is a global nonprofit industry association that promotes growth of WLANs. It raises consumer awareness of new 802.11 technologies as they become available. Wi-fi Alliance ensures interoperability of WLAN products by providing certification testing.

What is 802.11?

IEEE 802.11 is a working group formed to develop WLAN standard.11th indicates it is 11th group formed by IEEE.

What is 802.11a/b/g/n?

802.11a is a WLAN technology operates in 5GHz ISM band with maximum data rate of 54Mbps.802.11b/g both operate in 2.5GHz ISM band with 11Mbps and 54Mbps max data rates respectively.802.11n is a high speed WLAN technology operating in 2.4GHz and/or 5GHz ISM band with data rates of upto 450Mbps.

What is Cloud?

Cloud computing often called ‘the cloud’. It is basically the delivery of on-demand computing resources over the internet on pay-for-use basis. Cloud computing offers different types of services; SaaS, Paas &Iaas.
